  • What is the difference between Microblading and a brow tattoo? Microblading and cosmetic brow tattoos are both considered types of semi permanent tattoos; they are each applied into the skin with different techniques. Microblading utilizes a handheld tool and blade to apply ink into the skin. Cosmetic brow tattoos are applied into the skin with a tattoo machine and cartridge needle.

Do I have to shave my eyebrows off to get them tattooed? NO! The pigment can be tattooed within your existing brow hair. Any hairs that are outside of the tattooed shape will be removed.

What is the difference between a brow lamination and a brow tattoo? A brow lamination is a gentle relaxer that only affects the brow hair. A brow tattoo does not affect the hair at all, only the skin underneath.

Will you do my brows if I’ve had them done before? If you have had work done by another artist, you must be approved before booking an appointment. Cover ups/Corrections require an in person consultation. Your old work must be faded at least 80-90% from when you originally had them done to be a candidate. Laser or Saline Removal may be recommended before moving forward with a correction service. It may take more than one correction appointment to color correct your old work! If there is significant scarring from a previous tattoo or procedure, you are not a candidate. Not all correction work can be done!

Why are the appointments 2-3 hours long?

    Your appointment time includes:

    An in depth consultation

    Before & after photos

    Customized brow mapping & shaping

Tattooing each brow with up to 3-5 passes to build pigment

    Explanation of aftercare

Is the touch-up appointment necessary? A touch up appointment is always recommended to complete your cosmetic tattoo, as it is generally a two step process. However, everyone heals differently and some clients may be happy with their results after one session. If you feel an extra touch up is needed beyond your first two sessions, please reach out by email: badwavebrows@gmail.com

How long will it take for my brows to stop flaking? Your eyebrows will take an average of 10-14 days to fully heal. The flaky stage usually happens between days 3-6. Do not pick any flakes or scabs, let them fall off naturally to avoid pigment loss. Some clients may not see any flaking at all during healing.

Why did my eyebrows fade after my first appointment? Brow services are generally a two step process: an initial session and touch up session. Your brows can fade and lighten by 30%-50% once healed. A touch-up appointment is recommended to achieve optimal results for your cosmetic tattoo.

How bad does it hurt? There will be little to no pain during your service. Numbing products are used throughout the procedure to help alleviate any discomfort. If you are having this service performed during your menstrual cycle you may have increased discomfort. You may have some redness and irritation up to 72 hours after your procedure.

Can I wear makeup after getting permanent makeup? Avoid wearing makeup on the tattooed area for 7-10 days after your procedure; or until fully healed. You can still wear makeup everywhere else on the face.

Is permanent makeup really permanent? Cosmetic tattoos are semi permanent, meaning the pigment is implanted into the upper dermal layer of the skin and will not wash off. The pigment will begin to fade from the skin after 1-3 years depending on the client’s skin type, skincare, and lifestyle. It may never fade completely from the skin.

What if I don’t like how my permanent makeup looks? I provide an in depth consultation before beginning your service. We will pick out your shape and colors that suit you the best. You will be a big part of the process! Keep in mind that brow services will be much bolder when you first have them done, and then fade up to 30%-50% as they heal. You will not be tattooed until you agree on the procedure.

What if I have an allergic reaction? If an allergic reaction occurs after the procedure you will be referred to your primary care physician for treatment. Patch tests are available to clients if they feel they may have an allergic reaction. Patch tests are required before a service if there is any type of skin condition near or around the area being tattooed such as psoriasis, eczema, etc. If these skin conditions are directly on the area then you are not a candidate for cosmetic tattooing.
